National Beach Cleaning Programme 2016

Marine Environmental Protection Authority (MEPA) and Department of Coast Conservation and Coastal Resources Management (CC&CRM) were jointly organaised the 8th National Coastal Cleanup main programme on Saturday (17th September)  at "crow Island beach park", at Mattakkuliya. This year government declared a week from 17th September as a  “National Coastal and Marine Resources Conservation Week”. Sri Lanka marks the "International Coastal Cleanup Day" with series of beach cleaning programs covering 14 coastal district during this week.

 

Deputy Minister Mahaweli Development and Environment  Hon.Anuradha Jayarathn participated as a chief guest for the main programme and Sri LankaNavy,  Army, Air Force, Department of Coast Guard, Civil Defence Forces, Department of Police, School and Univercity students, and various other government and non-government institutes also participated to the programme.  The event was sponsored by Litro Gass Lanka Ltd., IOC Lanka Ltd., and other institutes.
