MEPA provides Waste reception Service in four commercial harbours in Sri Lanka through the Registered Service providers. This Authority is planning to improve existing service as per procedure laid down in MARPOL Convention 73/78.
Accordingly this Authority is planning to introduce the advance notification form for waste delivery to Port reception facilities to the vessels calling in Ports of Sri Lanka in keeping with the MARPOL requirements.
A circular and the specimen Advance Notification Form is enclosed herewith which is available in our Web Site www.mepa.gov.lk We request the advance notification form be submitted to the authority preferably 24 hours in advance of arrival of vessel in Sri Lankan port by following means.

This Authority is planning to introduce advance notification with effect from 1st of August 2012. This will enable us to improve waste reception service provided to vessels arriving ports in liaison with Service Providers and Ship agents.
